Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Located on the Pincushion Trail System (which links to the Superior Hiking Trail) there are endless hiking options right out your door. The Sven dome is 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais where you can eat at amazing restaurants, hear great live music, enjoy time by Lake Superior, and explore beautifully curated local shops. The dome is off-grid, with no heat or cooking supplies, so plan for an elevated camping experience.

PLEASE READ below The Sven dome is part of the Pincushion Mountain Haus 20 acre property (3 domes and a house that sleeps 12) . Please reach out if you need help booking more than one lodging on our property. The Sven dome offers a rustic stay with beautiful forest views outside your large window and a lovely fire pit and eating space next to the dome. Inside you’ll find two twin beds (with the option to push them together to make a king bed). There is plenty of floor space to accommodate a third or fourth guest if you bring a camping mat to sleep on.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

-Our domes are self-clean, which allows us to offer short stays and you get to skip paying an extra cleaning fee! The domes are professionally cleaned weekly, so we just ask that you wipe down surfaces, remove your trash, and clean the floor (if needed) so it’s ready for the next guest. Thank you for paying it forward!

-It can get cold at night anytime of the year in Grand Marais and our domes are not heated. You are responsible to bring your own blankets and linens so pack on the warmer side or with layers just to be prepared. A sleeping bag or electric blanket is always a win during colder nights.

-We have yet to see a bear on our property and we’d like to keep it that way! We are so grateful for the caution of our guests to prevent attracting animals to the domes. Please store your food tightly sealed in your car (a short walk from your dome). We do have a cooler in the dome where you can store beverages (bring your own ice).

-The clean and classy outhouse is a short walk from each dome and is shared among our dome guests.

-The domes have electricity, a water kettle, and mugs but no dishes or cooking supplies- bring your own camp stove or check out the great restaurants in town and plan for an elevated camping experience!

Amenities provided:

-pillows

-drinking water

-a kettle for boiling water

-a French press

-a fan

-a wash basin

-dish soap

-paper towels

-two mugs

-a cooler

-a bug net

-a bottle opener

-some games and books to enjoy

-firewood for your firepit

-The dome is a short hike (approx 300 feet) from the designated parking area. We do provide a cart if needed to help carry your bags to the dome. We also provide firewood for the fire pit - the cart can come in handy to haul wood from where it is stored by the garage.

- If you desire a shower, we highly recommend the YMCA in town (a 5 minute drive). You can get a day pass for $12 to use their complete facilities. You can also get a $4 shower at the Grand Marais campground.

-There are no linens provided at the dome, so plan to pack these for your stay. We recommend warm sleeping bags or blankets especially in the cooler months of May, June, September, and October. It can get chilly at night anytime of year so bring layers if uncertain what bedding to pack.

-We provide drinking water during your stay, bring your own water bottles to fill up from the dispenser and bring to your dome. Bring a camp stove if you’d like to cook at the dome. You are 5 minutes away from amazing shops and restaurants if you want to treat yourself in Grand Marais.

-There is electricity in the dome that can accommodate the basics- light for the dome, boiling water in the kettle, the fan, and a charger for your phone. There is cell phone coverage at the dome for most major cell phone providers.

-Please contact us by email for any non urgent questions or concerns. For more immediate/urgent needs, please text or call our property manager (phone number is in the manual/binder located in the dome)

-There are other rentals on the property so please be respectful of the privacy of other guests and keep volumes down between 10pm and 8am.
